Rick and Morty debuted season 6 back in September of 2022. It took three months for ten episodes to be released (because of a hiatus in the middle), but it was worth the wait. Rick and Morty went on all of their normal adventures that you’d expect from the show. The interdimensional travelers fought people in the sun, tricked genius dinosaurs, and battled a guy with Iron Man armor powered by urine.

The rest of the family had important moments too. Family and Space Beth learned that they love each other romantically (it was odd), Jerry wrote a bestseller (that he didn’t get credit for), and Summer, well, Summer remained the same teenage girl – except that she has access to weapons that even the most advanced world military doesn’t. Regardless, it was a fantastic season.

Unfortunately, Rick and Morty won’t be airing a new episode tonight. While Sunday nights are normally when new episodes debut, last week’s episode was the season 6 finale, meaning that there will be a wait for new adventures from Rick and Morty.

Now Adult Swim would absolutely put out another episode of season 6 if they had it just because they can. However, after the way episode 10 ended, it’s clear that it was the season 6 finale of Rick and Morty.

In that episode, Rick tells Morty that he’d been looking for Rick Prime while a robot version of him kept his family happy. After finding this out, Morty was furious. He couldn’t believe that Rick lied to him (again). Instead of being stubborn, Rick understands his grandson’s frustrations and invites Morty to help him find his murderous counterpart. Now, Rick and Morty will work together to find Rick Prime. That was too good of a cliffhanger to set up season 7.

Considering how great the writing is, season 7 will likely be amazing and well worth the wait. Rick Prime will be Regular Rick’s toughest challenge because he has none of Regular Rick’s attachment to anything. That’s including his actual grandson. Speaking of season 7, there is a strong possibility that it will be released sometime next year. That means we won’t have to wait too long to see how the final battle between the two Ricks ends. Until then, this writer suggests going back and rewatching the previous season.
